Background:

The Kai Ika Project has partnered with Victory Knives to produce the Ultimate Fish Processing knife set. This selection of knives have been used by the Kai Ika team for years to fillet fish and break down the heads and frames for their community.

This competition is designed to help recreational fishers share their knowledge, tips and tricks around processing fish and utilising their catch. The ultimate goal when filleting is to get a maximum yield from each fish. Respecting your catch doesn’t stop there, we promote using the entire fish, not just the fillets.

Terms and Conditions:

The New Zealand Master/Finest Filleter Competition starts on December 7th 2022 and finishes on 28th February 2023.

Entry is open to all New Zealand residents.

All fish filleted in the video must be of New Zealand minimum legal size.

You must start with the whole fish intact and finish with the fillets alongside the head and frame at the end.

Any species of fish is accepted including freshwater fish.

There is to be no editing of the filleting portion of the video
